What to do if all of a sudden your iPhone says no SIM Card installed, Invalid SIM, or SIM Card failure? This is a question that bothers quite a few users, and it may appear on all iPhone models. When one of the error messages we have mentioned shows up, you can't send or receive text messages, place calls, or use your mobile data plan. Many people want to know what causes these issues. There are a couple of reasons why these messages may appear. A glitch in the software is one of them. If the SIM card is damaged, or if it is not properly placed, you may see one of the errors. The issue may appear after an iOS update, if the device came in touch with water, or if it was dropped to the ground.

What to do if your iPhone says NO Sim card?

iPhone No Sim Card error is one of the most common Sim-related issues. We are going to share several effective solutions for you to try so that you can finally get rid of this annoying error message.

Solution No.1: Toggle Airplane Mode

Let's start with the simplest solution. If you ever experienced iPhone Wi-Fi issues, problems with cellular data, GPS, or Bluetooth, then you know that toggling the Airplane mode can fix the issue. This simple trick may work if your iPhone says No Sim. Go to Settings, and turn the Airplane mode On. Leave it on for 15-20 seconds and turn it off.

Solution No.2: Reboot your iPhone

When was the last time you rebooted your device? You know that phones can act strangely sometimes. Your iPhone says No Sim Card, even though the SIM card is in the tray. It means that for some reason your device is not detecting the card. A simple restart can fix the problem. Press and hold the sleep/wake button, and drag the slider once it appears. Solution No.3: See if your SIM card is properly placed

Sometimes, the SIM card may move a bit. Even if the card didn't move, reinserting the SIM card is something you should definitely try. Turn off your iPhone and remove the SIM card. If there is dust in the tray or on the card, wipe it off.  Make sure the SIM card is not damaged. If it is, that is the reason why your iPhone says no sim card installed and you will have to contact your carrier for the SIM card replacement. No damages on the card? Solution No.4: Try another SIM card

If you tried the previous solution, and it didn't work try another SIM card. Turn off your device, remove your SIM, and place another SIM card in the tray. Power on your iPhone and see if the error message appears. If not, your SIM card is causing the problem. Contact your carrier for the card replacement.

Solution No.5: Carrier settings update

In many cases, when you update the carrier settings, the issue is gone. It is a pretty simple thing to do:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap on General
  • Tap on About

Solution No.6: Reset network settings

What's next? You can reset network settings. This is a very useful solution for various connection-related issues. This will restore network settings to factory defaults, so you will have to enter your Wi-Fi passwords and pair them with other Bluetooth devices all over again.

  • Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings.
  • Enter your passcode.
  • Tap Reset all settings to confirm your action.

Solution No.8: Restore your device to factory defaults using iTunes

First, check if you have the latest version of iTunes, and backup your data. Connect the phone to your computer via USB cable. Once it is connected, choose your device in iTunes. Find Restore in the Summary panel, and click on it. Approve it. The iTunes software will now erase your iPhone, including all your data, and it will restore your device to its factory defaults. It will also install the latest version of iOS. Your device will restart. Set up your device, and you are done.

What to do if your iPhone says Invalid SIM card or SIM card failure?

iPhone no SIM card installed error is not the only sim-related message you may see. There are also Invalid SIM cards and SIM card failures. While the reasons for all the error messages are more or less the same, these two usually appear because the sim card has moved or because the card is damaged. If you recently pulled the sim out of the phone and the phone was turned on, you may see Invalid Sim or Sim card failure. Many users with jailbroken iPhones reported these messages. If your device is jailbroken, the only way to fix the problem is to remove the jailbreak.
